DGR Owners, Jerry & Debbie Colasurdo, Receive Patriot Award

On November 5th, 2014 the owners of DGR, Jerry and Debbie Colasurdo, proudly received the Patriot Award. Given to supervisors and bosses for their support to Service members and their family, recipients of the award must be nominated by a Service member or their family.

Debbie and Jerry were nominated by DGR employee Angela Richardson for their support of her husband Chris, who also works at DGR and also for their support of the entire Richardson family.  Chris recently served a tour of duty in Afghanistan. An E6 Staff Sergeant, this was 9 month tour was Chris’ second. His first was an 18 month tour from 2004-2005 in Iraq.  “We can’t thank them enough for what they have done for us”, said Angela. “There is nothing they wouldn’t do for my family in my time of need and I just wanted to say thank you.”

Receiving the Patriot Award

Members of the Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve (ESGR) came to the DGR office to surprise the Colasurdos with their award. After Jerry and Debbie accepted the Patriot Award (which now hangs proudly in the front entrance to DGR), ESGR announced they had one more award to give. Since Angela wanted to recognize the whole company for their kindness while Chris was overseas, sending care packages and providing support, ESGR provided them with an award as well. With the Patriot Award being reserved for employers and supervisors, the “Above and Beyond” award was given to DGR as a whole.

Everyone at DGR truly appreciated hearing just how much it all meant to Angela, Chris and their sons. But at the end of the day it is still us who would like to say thank you. We cannot put into words our appreciation for all Chris and his family have done for our country – thank you!
